I will start by introducing myself, my name is Kate Macnamara and I am very excited to be part of the PACEerformance team. Training for triathlon has been something I have been thinking about for a long time but running was always my first priority, mostly because I knew how to train for it. I have been competitively running for about eight years now and been successful in many races including two Around the Bay Race wins, second place finishes in the Toronto and Niagara marathons, and an Elite competitor in the Boston marathon. After battling several injuries and using swimming as a cross-training activity my interest in pursuing triathlon has become more of an interest. As well, the idea of a new challenge and the opportunity to meet new people and have new experiences is very appealing.
My struggle and fear with entering the world of triathlon has always been that I had no idea how. I had no idea how to train, who to train with, or how to balance three different disciplines. Fortunately I now know how with lots of help from Greg. His input and expertise in designing a training schedule that works for me has been great and makes me feel much more confident in my decision to pursue a new sport and challenge. The timing of finding Greg and the PACEperformance team could not have been better. Running and racing the same courses with the same competition was starting to make me feel burnt out and wanting a change. I am early into the training program still but am enjoying all the workouts so far. My greatest challenge right now is the bike but I feel motivated and am sure I will meet many people through PACEperformance training that will help me to build my skills and ability.
Time to train……
