Sampling breathing (i.e. Gas Sampling) to define Anaerobic Threshold is the gold standard to determine proper workout intensities for base workouts and the high intensity interval work.  This information is vital and should be part of all athletes programs in an annualized, periodization training plan.  Working at YOUR proper intensity will yield the maximum results for the time invested (results and training zones are in heart rates and wattage).  Don’t waste your time with junk workouts; every workout can bring you closer to your goal if done correctly!
